Cultivating the land of Santorini presents
unique challenges.
Santorini’s terrain has always been challenging; it is home to a dormant yet steaming volcano nestled in the heart of the Aegean Sea. The landscape is characterized by arid, parched earth, and relentless sunlight that sears everything it touches.
Yet, amidst these harsh conditions, the volcanic soil enriched with sea salt and the evening dew creates a microclimate uniquely suited to certain plants.
At Nomikos Estate, we honor heritage farming methods and the waterless farming techniques of Santorini’s traditional farmers while integrating modern methods to craft our products. Within this seemingly inhospitable landscape, our plants find essential sustenance.
